How Does Immersion Milling Work?

The process is simple: submerse the basket mill head into your batch and the product is pulled into the “work zone” as the media inside is agitated to break down particles. If necessary to help product turn-over within the tank, Schold offers a heavy-duty, low-speed sweep arm with wall scrapers to usher difficult product to the inlet of the basket.

Advantages Over Traditional Milling

Compared to traditional milling, the immersion milling (basket milling) process is faster, cleaning between batches is easier, and a smaller quantity of grinding media is required. In summary, the VIM Immersion Mill is advantageous for batch-type operations. Change-over simply involves running the unit in a cleaning tank with detergent or solvent to flush the mill, rendering it ready for the next batch.
