Our office and manufacturing facility is in Bedford Park, near Chicago’s Midway airport. Despite having been in business for 72 years, this is a rapidly expanding business with a new ownership team consisting of three mechanical engineers committed to creating a great work environment.

SALES ENGINEER

Schold Manufacturing is seeking a dynamic Sales Engineer for our office in Bedford Park, IL. The ideal candidate should enjoy a fast-paced environment, have a strong attention to detail, and be a natural self-starter.

 

The Sales Engineer will operate in selling capital equipment worldwide within the industrial chemical, paint, coating, food, cosmetic, and pharmaceutical industries. The position will serve as a liaison in the sales process of complex and technical equipment for unique customer applications. 

 

The Sales Engineer will report directly to the VP of Sales with primary responsibility to help grow overall sales. The position will include a ~6-12 month training/ramp-up period in an inside sales role with the expectation to transition to an outside sales role. 

 

Responsibilities:
  • Consult with existing and potential clients to assess and understand equipment needs for their unique applications
  • Provide expertise and support to sales team to communicate products, services, and client needs
  • Provide support to customers and resolves problems with installed equipment
  • Organize and tests various products or applications in our test lab
  • Contact and works with customers to organize details and support sales projects
  • Travel to industry trade shows and customer sites (expected travel is 10-30%)
  • Learn product line and sales skills required to succeed
  • Draft and assist with presentations and other documentation and materials that explain products and services to customers
  • Shadow salespeople on calls and appointments to learn about equipment, industry and sales skills
  • Assist with research and development of new products
  • Assist with calls and emails, generating budgetary and formal equipment quote
  • Generate 2D and 3D CAD drawings of proposed equipment
  • Expect a portion of time spent in production and engineering (first ~2-3 months) to gain in depth technical product knowledge

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or field related to products and services being sold preferred (BSME preferred)
  • 2-4 years of related product or sales experience preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Customer service skills with ability to explain technical products to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
  • Experience with 2D and 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, etc.)
  • Time management, prioritizing tasks, and organizational skills are important
  • Excellent team collaboration skills – will interface with the sales team, engineering team and customers

MECHANICAL ENGINEER / PROJECT MANAGER

Requirements:

  • Manage the design of custom process equipment from the technical sales phase through design, production and start-up at the end customer’s site
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering
  • 3-10 years of experience in engineering design and manufacturing
  • Experience with AutoCAD and 3D modeling, ideally Solidworks
  • Mechanical aptitude and desire to “get your hands dirty” when required
  • Ability to travel and work at customer sites (10-30% of days)

MECHANICAL ASSEMBLY FOREMAN

    Are you a mechanic, or mechanical assembler with team leading experience looking for a career with a well-established, expanding, privately held company located near Chicago’s Midway airport?  Since 1949 we have been a leader in the high-speed rotating equipment industry located in Bedford Park, IL.

Requirements:

  • The ideal candidate is mechanically oriented and has experience working with larger industrial equipment
  • Team lead or management experience directing small teams to complete jobs
  • Open minded, and positive leadership, willing to listen to ideas and choose the best solution for the team’s objective
  • 2-10 years millwright experience; fabricating assembly, and/or welding
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints, and bills of material
  • Experience with hand and power tools to assemble large equipment per specifications
  • A self-motivated team player who enjoys being busy and can prioritize jobs with the plant manager.
  • Must have your own tools
  • Physical ability to lift 50lb
  • Ability to travel, and work at customer sites, travel typically 20-30% of days per month
  • Strong work ethic, reliable, and always have a constructive attitude
  • Basic electrical and hydraulic system knowledge is a plus

WELDER / METALWORKER / FABRICATOR

Requirements:

  • Experience with MIG, TIG, and Stick welding
  • Able to weld with various materials and thicknesses from Sheetmetal to large plate
  • Sanitary stainless welding and cleaning a plus
  • Familiarity with sheer, press-break, and rolling operations
  • The ideal candidate is mechanically oriented and has experience working with larger industrial equipment
  • Trained in safe operation of overhead hoists and lifting methods
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints, and bills of material
  • A self-motivated team player who enjoys being busy and can prioritize jobs with the plant manager.
  • Physical ability to lift 50lb
